Septwolves (七匹狼 – Qī Pǐ Láng) clothing has just launched a new campaign to promote its new men’s Autumn / Winter clothing range. The brand name is a curious hybrid of French and English and thus to simplify matters many refer to the company as ‘Seven Wolves’.
Anyway to the campaign itself. It features four famous actors, each aiming to demonstrate the brand’s 2010 slogan 追逐人生. 男人不只一面 (Zhuīzhú rénshēng. Nánrén bùzhǐ yīmiàn) which roughly translates to, ‘Pursue the essence of life. Man has more than one side’.
Here is the TV advert currently broadcasting across Chinese TV channels.
The four men featured in the ad, each personifying the different sides of man, are as follows:
1. Zhang Hang Yu (张涵予). Chen Chang is a Taiwanese actor and he represents the quintessential tough guy.
2. Chen Chang (张震). Next up we have Chen Chang, he shows the cool and serious sides to the male gender. In the real world he is again another actor from Taiwan.
3. Hu Jun (胡军). Hu Jun is the man’s man, he embodies the mature and charming side of man. He is an actor born in mainland China.
4. Sun Hong Lei (孙红雷). Sun Hong Lei show’s a man’s inner strength. Sun is also an actor from the Chinese Mainland.
It should also be mentioned that Chinese director Lu Chuan ( 陆川) also features as part of the campaign.
The campaign itself is an interesting one. Although some Chinese fashion websites have criticised the execution saying it looks cheap for the amount of money spent.
