KFC Hong Kong aired a rather amusing TV commercial featuring a ‘Shanzhai’ (aka lookalike) of US President Barack Obama last month. The contraversial advert was aired in Hong Kong ahead of President Hu Jintao’s state visit to the USA.
In the ad, the Obama lookalike is seen promoting KFC’s new ‘Fish Fillet Soft Roll‘ (below).

Since its broadcast KFC Hong Kong has stated “The ad was created in Hong Kong for the Hong Kong market only. It was meant to be a spoof and no disrespect was intended. It is no longer airing and will not be re-aired.”
This is not the first time the US President has been used, without White House approval, to promote products in China. Here are a few examples below:

Not a Chinese advertisement, but a new advert from outdoor clothing brand ‘Weatherproof’ that features Obama (without approval) standing in front of the Great Wall of China.
